They either adopt the federal marking rule for\nintrastate carriers or write their own version of it, and your USDOT marking\ncovers you. That is a real answer, not a shrug, and it is worth knowing before\nyou buy a decal you do not need.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe one thing that catches people out: a state number does not replace your\nUSDOT number. The KYU number goes on both doors, which is what this product is. Separately,\nyou have to assign every taxed vehicle its own unit number and show that on the\n\u003cstrong\u003efront\u003c\/strong\u003e of the truck — between the bottom of the windshield and the bottom of\nthe front bumper, readable at a hundred feet standing still.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA hundred feet is double the distance the door markings are cut to, so it needs\nbigger lettering, not a spare door decal moved round the front.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe do not sell the front unit number yet. Mark the doors the way the federal rule asks — your legal name and\nyour USDOT number — and you have satisfied Texas without this decal. The state\nnumber is only compulsory if you take the Texas route instead.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt also only reaches some vehicles: trucks with three or more axles,\ntruck-tractors, road-tractors, and tow trucks. A two-axle straight truck can be\nregistered with TxDMV and still fall outside the marking rule entirely.
