The KYU number is issued by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and ties to Kentucky's weight-distance tax. It sits alongside your federal marking rather than replacing it — where both apply, both go on the door.

Your KYU number as issued. We cut exactly what you send, so check it against your paperwork rather than typing it from memory.
Sizing
The 24" x 3.5" is the standard door marking. The 12" x 2" suits smaller equipment or a panel that will not take the wider strip flat.
Letters are cut to stay legible at 50 feet, the same standard applied to everything here.
This is only half of what Kentucky asks for
Kentucky wants two markings, and almost everyone selling KYU decals mentions one. The KYU number goes on both doors, which is what this product is. Separately, you have to assign every taxed vehicle its own unit number and show that on the front of the truck — between the bottom of the windshield and the bottom of the front bumper, readable at a hundred feet standing still.
A hundred feet is double the distance the door markings are cut to, so it needs bigger lettering, not a spare door decal moved round the front.
We do not sell the front unit number yet. We would rather tell you it exists and lose the second half of the order than let you think a pair of door decals finishes the job. Ask us and we will tell you what size it needs to be.
Before you order
The KYU licence only reaches heavier operations, so plenty of Kentucky trucks never need one. If you are not certain, ask us before you order — we would rather talk you out of a decal than cut you one you do not need.
