Collection: GVW, Not For Hire, and secondary markings
Two markings that get bought for the wrong reasons, so here is who actually
needs them.
Gross vehicle weight. Some states require the registered weight displayed on
the vehicle for intrastate operation, and some weight-based permits require it.
It is a state and permit question, not a federal marking requirement. Check your
state page before you order.
Not For Hire. This one marks a private carrier — you haul your own goods,
you are not paid to haul someone else's. It is not a federal requirement for
every truck, and anyone selling it as one is guessing. Where it matters is in
avoiding the assumption that you are operating for hire without authority, and
in some state and local rules that ask for it directly.
If neither of those describes your operation, you do not need either decal, and
we would rather tell you that than sell you vinyl.
Both cut as pairs, both to the same legibility standard as everything else here.
