Your USDOT number, cut in vinyl, sized to be read from 50 feet in daylight while the truck is stopped. Call it a DOT sticker, a USDOT decal, or door lettering — it is the same vinyl, and this is the one the federal rule cares about. That last part is the actual federal standard — 49 CFR 390.21 sets a legibility requirement, not a letter height.
We cut 2 inch letters by default because that is what reliably meets it on a truck door. It is our recommendation, not a legal minimum, and anyone telling you the law specifies two inches has not read the section.
You get two decals. Both doors, one price, cut from the same file so the digits are identical on each side. Most of this trade sells one and leaves you to work out that a truck has two sides.
Which size
The 24" x 3.5" is the standard door marking and the one most carriers want. The 12" x 2" suits smaller equipment, trailers, and door panels where the larger panel will not sit flat.
What we need from you
Your USDOT number, digits only. We add the letters USDOT ourselves, correctly spaced. If you send a number that does not look like a USDOT number we will flag it before we cut rather than after.
If you also need your legal name on the door — and interstate carriers do — the company name and USDOT combo puts both on one panel.

Before you order
- What we guarantee — exactly what is covered if a marking we cut to your spec is cited, and exactly what is not.
